DOLE-X warns public on bogus employment
hiring
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Jan. 22 (PIA) --
The Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office X (DOLE-X) warned the
public against bogus employment hiring.
The warning was issued by DOLE-X after
confirming reports that a company has been hiring applicants in the city and
collecting payments for uniforms amounting to P1,500 and P1,800 for medical
fees.
This practice of collection is
tantamount to illegal recruitment under the Labor Code of the Philippines,
[Article 34 (b)], which prohibits a company to charge or accept, directly or
indirectly, any amount greater than that specified in the schedule of allowable
fees prescribed by the Secretary of Labor.
The regional labor department is thus
advising the public not to be enticed by this modus operandi.
All Public Employment Service Offices
(PESO) in the local governments, academe, or private institutions in the region
are also advised to verify first the authenticity of the company or employment
agency before assisting in their hiring or recruitment activity.
They are also advised to seek the
assistance of the local DOLE Office in their locality or jurisdiction. (Mildred
