DILG has a new text helpline no.

By: Rochelle Dagang

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Misamis Oriental, May 10 (PIA) -- The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has a new text helpline number which the public can use to seek assistance or information.

Secretary Jesse M. Robredo of DILG said the new text number 2299, which replaces 2256, is the latest effort of the Department to reach out and receive complaints, queries or comments from the public on their programs and projects, including its attached agencies.

“Aside from this text helpline, of course, the public can still personally visit the DILG-Public Assistance Center (PAC) at the Central Office or call us at (02) 9251135 or (02) 9250343,” said Robredo.

“You can also email us at dilgmail@dilg.gov.ph,” he added.

Robredo said that initially, the text messaging system operates within office hours or from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m on a weekday.

However, he said the public may still send text messages beyond office hours and that messages received beyond office hours shall be dealt with on the next working day.

“As of now, we are still perfecting the system but we have plans of making this a 24/7 operation,” he said.

Trained duty and action officers from the DILG’s PAC, who monitor the system, will respond to the texters through text or call within a window period of ten minutes.

The text messaging service system charges a minimal amount of P2.50 per text message of 160 characters.

To send messages to the Department, simply text DILG space NAME (optional) space MESSAGE to 2299.

The DILG Secretary urged the public to save the new number in their telephone directories in case they need the assistance of the Department.

“However, in case of emergency, please call our emergency hotline number 117,” he said. (DILG-OPA/PIA-10)

CESH celebrates annual hospital day with a Health Fair

CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City, May 10 (PIA) – The Camp Evangelista Station Hospital (CESH) of the 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division, in Barangay Patag, this city, will hold, today, May 10, an all out “Health Fair.”

The activity is expected to benefit not only the military personnel and their dependents but also the civilians and other communities within and outside the camp, who can avail of its free services.

The event is in celebration of the CESH Annual Hospital Day, Col Catherine N. Gosingan, Commanding Officer, said.

She said among the medical services that can be availed of during the entire day are as following:
Free circumcision, anti-rabies vaccination of pet dogs, body mass index and blood pressure taking, digital rectal examination, tooth extraction, and other laboratory examinations, such as, blood sugar screening for diabetics and blood typing.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Victor A Felix, Commander of the 4th Infantry Division (4ID), Philippine Army, commended the activity of CESH as a way of the Army in reaching out to the people and the communities, and help them get free medical access.

There are several ways on how we can celebrate certain events but for the Army, and CESH deemed it more meaningful to have this Health fair.

“This way, resources are put into good use where more people can benefit from free medical services that could otherwise cost them far bigger expenses elsewhere,” the 4ID Commander said.

Relatedly, Maj. Eugenio Julio C Osias IV, Commanding Officer, 4th Civil-Military Operations Battalion added that the bringing of essential health services to the populace is just among the many advocacies of the Army.

“This is also our way of thanking the people for their constant support to us. We reciprocate such confidence by giving our full commitment of serving them,” Osias added. (4CMO/PIA-10)

Involvement of all stakeholders vital in winning peace
By: Apipa P. Bagumbaran

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, May 10 (PIA) -- Col. Leo Cresente Ferrer, Commander of the 601st Infantry Brigade (601Bde), Philippine Army, underscored the importance of the involvement of all stakeholders in winning peace.

Ferrer, who graced the 24th founding anniversary of the 64th Infantry Battalion (64IB) last May 6, emphasized that the internal security concern being addressed is multi-faceted.

Hence, it must be shared not just among security forces and government institutions but also with civil society organizations (CSO) and the community as a whole.

“It is widely acknowledged within the military institution, the academe, and civil society that purely military solution to end insurgency remains inadequate,” he cited.

Thus, during the simple ceremony held at the 64th IB headquarters in Barangay Pawak, Saguiaran town, this province, he promoted the government’s whole-of-nation approach to end insurgency.

He said the whole-of-nation is one of the two (2) approaches under the Internal Peace and Security Plan (IPSP) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) that focuses more on winning the peace instead of defeating the enemy.

“The IPSP or Bayanihan which seeks to incorporate the participation of stakeholders in winning the peace is a paradigm shift on how the AFP views internal security operations,” he further said.

Ferrer explained that the role of the AFP in the whole-of-nation approach is to catalyze the involvement of all stakeholders and facilitate the synergy of all efforts by engaging its counterparts and partners through consultations and dialogues.

Also, he further reminded the 64IB troopers to support, protect and preserve the primacy of the peace process between the Government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

“In preserving the primacy of the peace process, we are directed to give our utmost cooperation to support the different coordinative ceasefire mechanisms in the performance of our mandated functions, and to refrain from committing acts that would undermine the peace negotiations,” he added.
