DepEd to allow use of public school buildings for election purposes
By: Rutchie Cabahug-Aguhob

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental, Aug. 30 (PIA) --  The Department of Education (DepEd) will allow the use of public school buildings  relative to the October 28, 2013 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

It will not also hold, during the election period, from September 28, 2013 to November 12, 2013, conferences, seminars or any school activity, which might interfere, restrict, or prevent the performance of election duties of the DepEd personnel, except upon prior written authority of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Thus explained Jonathan S. Dela Pe?a, Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) of the Misamis Occidental Schools Division, who said that DepEd will comply with and enforce all orders and instructions of the Comelec relative to the duties and functions of its personnel in the October 28 BSKE.

Pursuant to Comelec Resolution 9734, promulgated last July 3, DepEd is also expected to perform such other duties and functions which the Comelec may prescribe from time to time.

Together with DepEd, Comelec Resolution 9734 also deputizes other government agencies under the executive branch and law enforcement agencies and instrumentalities of the government  in connection with the October 2013 BSKE.

This, as the Constitution, the Omnibus Election Code, Republic Act 9164, and other election laws, provides that the Comelec may deputize certain departments under the Executive Branch, Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCC) and Financial Institutions in connection with the elections. ETRACS Administration and Users Training for LGU Iligan conducted

ILIGAN CITY, Lanao del Norte, August 30  (PIA) -- About 40 employees attended the training on Enhanced Tax Revenue Assessment and Collection System (ETRACS) at the Maria Christina Hotel, Iligan City,  August 19 to 30.

The Local Government of Iligan has commissioned Ramese System Inc.  to conduct  the training with participants coming from different offices like the City Treasurer, City Assessor, City Mayor, and Information Communication Technology Office.

The Enhanced Tax Revenue Assessment and Collection System is designed, developed and maintained by Rameses Systems Inc.   It is the enhanced version of TRACS (Tax Assessment and Collection System) currently used by the local government units (LGUs).

The system was designed for all local government units (LGUs) for computerized tax and revenue assessment and collection which  aims to seamlessly and fully integrate real property system, business licensing and all other revenue activities to treasury operations,  said Jessie S. Zamora, head, Government Solutions.

Meanwhile, the training is substantiated with workshops and exercises and hands-on application of concepts and process. The core modules are tax collection, business permit and real property assessment, added Zamora who handles the training.

Furthermore,  it allows quicker efficient access in computerized tax and revenue assessment and also improves the capability of the LGU to effectively monitor and collect taxes and fees.

The enhanced efficiency would result in measurable increase in revenue and better delivery of basic services. (Irma S. Boza, Iligan Web/LVG/PIA-10 LDN)
