NSO appeals support for 2010 Census
Malaybalay City, Bukidnon (18 May) - The National Statistics Office (NSO) in Bukidnon called on all families to support the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH) conducted by the agency that started May 17.
Provincial Statistics Officer Eddie Nasol said the participation of all households in this mission is crucial, as the government planners and policymakers will use the obtained data as basis in the distribution of resources and revenues, creation of political and administrative units, and in redistricting and allotment of congressional seats.
He likewise emphasized the importance of the census data in businesses and academic research.
“I am appealing to all families to share their precious time for the census interview which takes only about 15 to 30 minutes,” Nasol said. (Ruby Leonora R. Balistoy, PIA-Bukidnon)
Iligan city dad enjoins all sectors to a 2-day ‘Clean-Up Day’
Iligan City – While the May 10 election is over, political campaign materials, election-related paraphernalia of political parties, posters and streamers hanged from walls, fences, trees, posts are yet to be removed.
Thus, Mayor Lawrence Ll. Cruz declared May 16 and May 23 as Clean Up Day in Iligan City per Executive Order (EO) No. 115, series of 2010, enjoining all local offices, national government agencies, schools, colleges, barangays and communities, business establishments, including civic society organizations to support and participate the activity.
Nonetheless, Mayor Cruz and wife Gina—the city’s first couple, led the clean-up drive on May 16, Sunday, along with the city council.
The EO has specified areas, as to schedules and assignments for all sectors to follow, to get involve in these undertakings wherever possible, to wit:
1) Removing of old, expired advertisements, political campaign materials, election-related paraphernalia of political parties, posters and streamers hanged from walls, fences, trees, etc.;
2) Cleaning and dredging of canals and drainage;
3) Sweeping off dust or scraping mud from gutters and cement pavements;
4) Cut grasser or uproot weeds along open vacant lots, road easements and sidewalks, and;
5) Cleaning vacant lots or open lots with visible piled garbage or litter.
All participating entities, individuals and institutions are required to bring cleaning tools or implement and to submit the attendance list to the City Administrator’s Office and Clean and Green Coordinators manning during the Clean-Up Day.
The city chief executive said all candidates in the recent political exercise are also strongly encouraged to support and participate the clean up drive, so as to set good example to the entire populace.
Cruz added, “We are anticipating for the coming of visitors joining and witnessing various activities lined up for the city’s annual observance—the Grand Triple Celebration for the National Flag Day (May 28), Independence Day (June 12), and the Adlaw sa Iligan (June 16).”
